Southend Drama Society presents Graham Linehan's The Ladykillers.

A hilarious comedy crime caper, in which five oddball criminals planning a bank robbery rent a room in a lopsided house on a cul-de-sac next to a railway line from an octogenarian widow under the pretext that they are classical musicians rehearsing for a concert. Based on the screenplay of the 1955 film of the same name, The Ladykillers is a classic black comedy as the sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a troupe of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing.

“Professor” Marcus and his gang plot to involve her, unwittingly, in Marcus’ brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her sickly parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs Wilberforce is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music?
