CURRENT PRODUCTION

Southend Drama Society presents Nell Gwynn.

Southend Drama Society is excited to be bringing Nell Gwynn by Jessica Swale to the Dixon
Studio.

This hilarious and educational modern classic is set during the Restoration of the Monarchy
following the austerity of Oliver Cromwell’s Commonwealth. When King Charles II returned from exile in 1660, his philosophy was fun, fun, fun. To this end, he had a wife and 17 mistresses, the most famous of whom was Nell Gwynn – a humble orange seller who rose to be the King’s
favourite through his love of the theatre.

We have never put forward a play that has generated such excitement from our members. We love it and are sure you will too!

Tickets Standard - £16, Concessions: £14

Directed by Simon Lawler

This is an amateur production.
