Billy Liar - Postponed
Thursday 6th October 2003

Southend Drama Society regret to announce that, due to circumstances beyond our control, the December production of Billy Liar has been postponed until some time next year. The new production dates shall be published here as soon as they are known. Southend Drama Society apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Performances of Billy Liar shall begin at 7.45pm from 4th to 6th December 2003. Tickets will cost £7.00 (£6.00 concessions). Box office details will
follow shortly.

Following successful auditions, the cast of Billy Liar are now knee-deep in rehearsals. Costumes, sets and props are all coming together nicely and the
show promises to be one to remember!

Southend Drama Society are proud to announce that their next production shall be Billy Liar, written by Wallis Hall and Keith Waterhouse. The play shall be directed by Peter Nawrat. Casting shall take place in the next couple of weeks.

Our final performance of Blackadder is tonight! Thursday and Friday's performances were sell out shows. We've had a tremendous response and the audiences have loved it. Don't miss your last chance to see one of our most popular productions of all time!

We are now half way through our rehearsals for the production. Everyone is dedicated to making this a truely excellent night out for fans and non-fans of the TV show. Tickets are selling fast!

 

Treasure Hunt
Friday 16th May 2003

Last Sunday's Treasure Hunt was another success with everyone having a good time. Big thanks to John and Juliet for putting together another excellent day out.

 

Blackadder
Thursday 15th May 2003

Rehearsals continue for Potato, Ink and Incapability and Major Star. All three episodes shall be performed on each night of the play. Costumes are coming together, as is the sound, sets and props.

 

July Production
Thursday 3rd April 2003

Southend Drama Society are proud to announce that our July production for 2003 shall be Blackadder by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton. This direct adaptation of the television scripts shall return the audience to the Throne Room of Queen Elizabeth I, the shocking trousers of the Prince Regent and the latrines of the Great War.

The production shall take place between 24th and 26th July at the Focus Theatre, Southend on Sea.

 

Rehearsal Venue Change
Wednesday 2nd April 2003

We shall be returning to our traditional venue of the Wesley rehearsal rooms from 8th April 2003. Many thanks to the staff of The Stables for being such excellent hosts over the past year.

 

Friends and Family Night

Missed our Festival production of Babysitting Calvin? Never fear - the play, along with a series of sketches and readings, shall be shown again at our next Friends and Family evening. Tickets available at the door at the Focus Theatre, Southend On Sea on 7th April at 7.30pm.

 

All England Festival: Update
Tuesday 1st April 2003

Through the Gate and Babysitting Calvin were both performed at last week's All Engalnd Festival. Both plays were well received with some nice comments made by the adjudicator. Congratulations to Brian for his Best Original Play trophy and to Sharon and Juliet for their Best Actress nominations.
